Welcome 2017-18 Arts Every Day Partner Schools!

A welcome letter from Carla Blackwell, our Schools and Partnerships Manager:

Greetings, Arts Every Day Friends!

It’s my pleasure to introduce myself once again and to say how elated I am to be settling into my role as Schools and Partnerships Manager. I want to first thank my Arts Every Day team -Julia, Precious, and Vanessa- for the tremendous amount of support and encouragement they’ve provided me over these past several months. As the weeks are flying by and our Partner Schools are gearing up for their arts and cultural experiences, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the Principals and Arts Integration Coaches. It’s been great hearing from them how much they appreciate the small changes we’ve made to the Schools Program process. We are actively listening from our partners on how we can make our program stronger. As the time draws near for schools to start booking artist residencies, field trips, and art integrated experiences, I’m filled with excitement and anticipation of my next round of school visits to witness students learning through the arts. Don’t be surprised if I show up with Ruby Dee (my camera) in hand to capture some of those priceless moments.

I want to thank our Partner Schools, both new and returning, for your hard work thus far. Know that your students, their parents, and the greater communities will continue to be better in so many ways because of your dedication and efforts to bring the arts into our City schools. The critical need for our students to take advantage and be participating members of the arts and cultural offerings in our City is vital to their development as budding citizens and evolving intellectual, social, cultural, political, and creative beings. With the future of the funding and many times wavering support of the arts in schools (both locally and nationally), it makes my heart proud that Arts Every Day and its 40 Partner Schools stand firm in its advocacy for and implementation of arts programming in public schools. Keep up the amazing work, all!
