Community based public art: Workshops/Mural involving one class/selected classes/entire school. Can involve any or all curricula. Can involve workshops only.

The mural making experience is designed to enhance positive school climate through: (1) deepening engagement in learning and the motivation to learn for understanding; (2) increasing student self-expression, self-concept, and self-awareness as community leaders; (3) increasing student, teacher, and parent/guardian self-efficacy and self-confidence, problem-solving skills, and team collaboration; and (4) experiencing goal setting, work ethics, and achievement-based success in an academic community and through producing a vibrant, aesthetic work of art to give as a gift to the school and broader community.

Jay work’s with a diverse team of professional artists all of whom have assisted him on many school projects. He also includes interns from area universities including Morgan State, MICA, Towson.
