Perspectives through Black History
$450.00

This 2-day residency or full day field trip will take students on a journey where they will learn about American History through handling and reading real letters written by African American soldiers in the Civil War. We will discuss historical perspective, how it affects historical stories and international relations in a developmentally appropriate way. Students wil then work in small groups to write a story based on a new perspective. The subject matter will depend on which direction discussions take during the course of instruction. If there is time, students will dramatize their stories and perform them for each other. Content and activities will be customized to the grade and developmental level of students in each classroom. This residency pairs perfectly with “Biology of Optical Illusions and Why They Work”.
