Bash the Trash has been weaving together science, music and the environment for 25 years! Using amazing invented instruments, we teach kids how to combine science and the arts while working with simple everyday objects to explore STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) and environmental issues such as sustainability and the 3 R’s (Reduce Reuse Recycle). Using our provided materials lists, students will collect a variety of recycled and reused household items as raw materials. Over the course of the workshop series (which can range from a single workshop to five workshops) students will build their own invented instruments with the assistance of one of our teaching artists. Students will then create and perform simple musical stories and/or pieces using their brand-new instruments. The complexity of the instruments built can be adapted depending on the needs of the students and length of the workshop series.
