Discovering The Drum

Discovering The Drum will provide a hands-on activity that parents, caretakers, and their children can participate in together.
During the session there will be an introduction to the drums, African history of the drums, and actual engagement with the drums. The drums will be used as metaphors for the family and the community. The instruments will be used to connect these ideals about how fathers, mothers, and the children can work together in harmony in their family and further how their family and others can work together to form harmony in the community.
Drumming is also a great method to teach discipline, timing, counting, coordination, cooperation and listening with children.
