I love working with groups of 10-12 students to participate in active listening circles where students learn how to share feelings, ideas, and thoughts on ways they want to show up in the world with compassion and empathy. After me meet in circle we work collectively each session to create a large scale no grout mosaic which after the workshop is installed permanently in the school. Students learn how to cut mirror and glass to fashion a gorgeous mosaic that visually represents the ideas and concepts we have learned and shard about. Throughout the art workshop we talk about ways to regulate our nervous systems, breathing techniques, share methods of making repairs with people when we don’t act our best and how to be responsive instead of reactive.
