Visual Voices: ASL Through Music & Performance engages children in learning American Sign Language (ASL) through music, rhythm, movement, and creative performance. This inclusive and accessible program teaches foundational ASL vocabulary and basic sentence structures while integrating expressive movement, storytelling, and signing to music.
Students develop memory, focus, coordination, and social-emotional skills while gaining awareness of Deaf culture and the importance of accessibility. Classes culminate in optional informal in-class performances, short showcases for families or communities, or integration into existing events. No prior ASL or music experience is required.
Curriculum themes can include: Emotions & Feelings, Animals & Nature, Friendship & Community, Storytelling Through Song, and seasonal or program-specific themes. Lessons can be customized to align with organizational goals or special events.
