GroovHero brings an electrifying, culturally rich performance to your school that explores the vibrant history and international influence of house music and dance. This assembly creatively connects the local street style of Baltimore Club dance with the broader global house dance community and culture.
This dynamic showcase features storytelling through music, sound effects, visuals, videography, freestyle dance solos, cyphers, and interactive exchanges between renowned Baltimore Club and internationally acclaimed house music DJs and dancers. The MC, a local urban arts leader, guides students through the history, influence, and evolution of house music and dance.
Students and staff will experience a dialogue around the origins of house music, its culture and its growth on international stages, such as Broadway productions, in music videos for stars like Beyoncé, and global battle circuits.
The program highlights the diverse styles within house dance—footwork, lofting, waacking, voguing, groove—while intergrating Baltimore’s proud contribution through Baltimore Club, demonstrating how pride and innovation can build bridges within the international house dance community, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration.
Designed to inspire cultural pride, career pathways, and global connections, this assembly encourages students to explore freestyle dance as a powerful tool for expression, cultural exchange, and community-building.
