Tours for K-12 Students at the Walters Art Museum

The Walters Art Museum offers in-person tours for PreK-12 school groups, with opportunities for either docent-led or self-guided experiences. Registration for all tours is required.

Guided Tours for Schools

Docent-led tours are 75 minutes long and are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00am. Tours require a minimum of ten students with a maximum of 80 on Wednesdays and 40 students on Fridays. At least one chaperone is required per every ten students. For more information, please refer to our Field Trip Packet. We offer three types of in-person guided tours:

  • Ancient Cultures (recommended for grades 2-12)
  • Telling Stories in Art (recommended for grades K-12)
  • Animals in Art (recommended for grades PreK-3)

Self-Guided Tours for Schools

Self-Guided tours are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30am and on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. A minimum of ten students are required with a maximum of 80 students. Groups larger than 80 students should plan to visit across multiple dates. At least one chaperone is required per every ten students. For more information, please refer to our Field Trip Packet.

 

Tours are FREE. A voluntary contribution of $7 per student will help us sustain educational programs for our communities. The Walters is pleased to offer a limited number of bus stipends for Title I schools throughout the state of Maryland, through the form of reimbursements for partial or full bus expenses.
