In this highly-interactive program, Dan and Claudia Zanes will lead students through a communal musical experience using old and new songs from near and far. The duo plays a variety of instruments including guitar, flute, hand percussion, theremin, harmonica, trombone, and jaw harp while creating conditions in which everyone can participate in the music making. In the realm of social music there is much room for understanding, Dan and Claudia provide context for the songs in a way that could be considered subversively educational–there are takeaways and breakthroughs and it’s always fun. Languages include Haitian Kreyol, Spanish, ASL, and English.
