Backed by musician and composer Tina Chancey, Jon Spelman tells old time, down-home, versions of beloved stories by the Brothers Grimm in this storytelling assembly. Country-fried takes on classics like Rumplestiltskin, Bremen Town Musicians, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella all fit together to make up one larger story full of home-spun humor and American charm. Chancey’s array of instruments from around the world provide an exuberant backdrop to the tales, and in addition to the stories, the students will enjoy a brief description of the history and geography associated with each instrument.
