This highly-interactive professional development workshop teaches how the use of props, movement, music, and drama can bring toddler stories to life, reinforce pre-math concepts such as positional words, measurement, shapes, sorting, and classifying, as well as early literacy and foster in young children a love of books that will last a lifetime! Participants will be introduced to a variety of books for infants and toddlers and learn how they can be enhanced with music, movement, gestures, chants, props, using all the senses. They will practice early math concepts using new and familiar books in creative ways. Includes handout.
Goal: To use drama strategies to create hands-on, multi-sensory “story experiences” for children in the teaching of math and pre-math concepts.
