Students worldwide have been captivated by Abraham Lincoln and the legends that spring from his life. Inspired by those tales and by a true story told by Leo Tolstoy, this special assembly was created in cooperation with Ford’s Theatre National Historical Site in Washington, D.C. Would you like to find out how President Lincoln used “T-mail”? Have you heard how Lincoln fought Native Americans in the Illinois wilderness? How 13-year-old Abe won a “talking contest” against a grown man, or that Lincoln had a dream that predicted his own death? This storytelling assembly is approximately 35 minutes, leaving time for student questions and responses about Lincoln and the Civil War.
