Jon portrays Yancey Register, a natural born folklorist and imagination-stretcher in this storytelling assembly. Yancey is a “rural raconteur” or “talkin’ teller” who spins tall tales, folktales, legends, myths, and learning stories from around the world. Yancey begins a bit shyly, but he is soon carried away by the imaginative power of his tales, hightailing along a trail of homespun humor and wise sayings. Before leaving, Yancey answers students’ questions and talks about the importance of creativity.
