Taikoza – Learn About Japanese Taiko Drums

Taikoza presents a unique and exciting residency on the artform of taiko drumming. Following Taikoza’s assembly, the program introduces students to the history and culture of Japan through the rhythms, sounds, and sights associated with taiko ancestral drums. Over the course of 4-5 workshops, students will learn how to read taiko music, create their own rhythmic solos and learn movement and choreography. Each day begins with Japanese warm-up exercises, and the residency culminates with a final performance.

Pricing
Typically, residencies range from $2,500 and up, but we can use your available budget and ‘work backwards’ to create a cost-effective residency for your school. We may be able to assist you in securing grant and funding opportunities.

Residencies are tailored to your needs but usually include:

A kick-off assembly (performing arts only)
A required orientation meeting and planning session
A set of workshops for classes of up to 25 students each
A student culminating or sharing event
An evaluation meeting
