Get Ready to… Hit the Road, Jack! Embark on a captivating musical journey with “Jazzing Up Learning” featuring Renée Collins Georges. This interactive and educational program brings Renée’s extensive touring and singing experiences over four continents with the legendary Ray Charles to center stage, and shares her stories through the magic of music.
Watch the legends of acoustic jazz come to life as Renée spotlights iconic figures like Duke Ellington’s “Take the ‘A’ Train,” Ray Charles’ classic “Hit the Road, Jack!,” Louis Armstrong’s spirited “Oh, When the Saints Go Marching In,” Ella Fitzgerald’s swinging rendition of the Duke’s “It Don’t Mean A Thing,” and Nat King Cole’s unforgettable journey along “Route 66.”
Students are invited to join Renée on an immersive adventure across Historic Route 66, traveling by train, plane, and the world’s largest (imaginary) tour bus. They’ll swing, sing, and dive into the essence of jazz in an engaging and fun-filled way. Adding to the excitement, Renée’s original ‘jazz for kids’ song, “Choo-Choo, Cha-Cha,” brings everyone to their feet with the lively Freeze Dance Game of the same name.
This program isn’t just a performance; it’s a journey through jazz’s rich history and its legendary figures. Students will leave not just singing, but with a suitcase packed full of joy, minds buzzing with new knowledge, and a newfound love for jazz. A tuned piano is requested to ensure the music resonates at its best.
NOTE: This program is offered as a 45-minute session in two formats:
- A solo artist offering
- A live jazz quartet consisting of vocals, piano, upright bass, and drums
