The West Baltimore Women’s History Mural Tour is a powerful 2-hour walking experience that celebrates the lives, legacies, and artistic contributions of Black women who have shaped Baltimore’s past and present. This tour highlights stunning mural work by acclaimed local artists Megan Lewis and LaToya Peoples, whose vibrant, empowering pieces honor the strength, beauty, and resilience of Black women in the community. Students will also visit the iconic Billie Holiday bronze statue, a tribute to the legendary jazz singer whose voice became a powerful tool for both artistic expression and social change. Through public art and storytelling, students will explore the impact of women who broke barriers in music, activism, and the arts—many of whom are commemorated on the very walls of West Baltimore. Designed especially for educators and school groups, this tour offers a meaningful field trip opportunity that aligns with lessons in women’s history, Black history, and visual culture, while inspiring students to see the power of art in preserving and celebrating powerful female voices.
