Teaching the 2015 Baltimore Uprising- A Mini-Unit: How Socio-cultural, Political

For fall 2015 in conjunction with Maryland’s statewide professional development, a one-day teacher’s workshop focusing on the Baltimore unrest will be offered. Teachers from grades 6-12 will explore the underlying causes and solutions of the Baltimore Uprising – what occurred during the uprising and its aftermath using the Devin Allen: Awakenings in a New Light exhibit as the focal point. Using visual imagery from the exhibit, primary sources and expertise from the West Baltimore community, teachers will better understand the contextual framework of the unrest. MSDE Credits:2 earned
